If you have time while on St. Thomas, please make sure and stop at Drakes Seat. You can park at the scenic overlook and walk across the street to where there's an even better view and an actual bench to sit down. The legend says, this is where Sir Francis Drake, back in the 1600's would watch over the now Magens Bay and the Atlantic Ocean/Caribbean sea to view any enemies approaching and to watch over his fleet. None the less, it's a gorgeous view and I've seen it a myriad of times and it never gets old.

Local Attractions

The rich Caribbean weather welcomes many outside activities such as snorkeling, diving, fishing and kayaking. You can explore many natural habitats during the day or night.

Blackbeard's Castle

This majestic structure was at one time a Danish military tower. As you tour the grounds you can take a swim in one of the three swimming pools or enjoy the world's largest collection of life-sized pirate sculptures. For more information visit Blackbeard's Castle site.

Magic Ice

Take a break from the warm sand to experience the ice and snow sculptures of the Magic Ice gallery. See an ice installation that includes a lighthouse or enjoy a drink at the bar that looks like a shipwreck. Amazement for the entire family. For more information visit the Magic Ice site.

St. Thomas Synagogue

The oldest synagogue in continuous use under the American Flag and the second oldest synagogue in the western hemisphere was built in 1833. Although restored in 2000 there are still many elements from the original structure. There is a museum located in the back showing the history of the synagogue and some of its members.

St. Thomas Synagogue - This is the oldest synagogue in the western hemisphere! The Jewish community does a lot to support and maintain the place. A visit here is humbling experience. The story of the community that established and maintained their ways awesome.

St. Thomas Carnival

This is the first celebration of the year where you, your family, and friends can enjoy music, dances, savory food and entertainment on the island.

The yachts alone are worth a visit just to see them. Some were so posh you just wanted to look and wonder how fancy they were inside. The harbor alone gives you a great view of the ocean and the nearby islands. We were not there at meal time but they had several places with decks right on the harbor and would make a great place to eat or at least have a couple of drinks and relax.
