MARCH 7, 2022

  1. See for the full, formal requirements for entry. These apply to all air & sea arrivals from outside the US Virgin Islands – including the United States, Puerto Rico, BVI, internationally, etc.
  2. All arriving yachts from outside the USVI must complete the USVI Travel Portal at for all persons aboard the vessel within five (5) days prior to your arrival. For children exceptions, see page 2 for more info.
  3. Effective March 7th 2022, for domestic travel originating from the USA or from another US Territory, fully vaccinated individuals are not required to test prior to entry to the USVI. Vaccination records must be uploaded to the USVI Travel Portal. ‘Fully vaccinated’ means a person has received their primary series of COVID-19 vaccines – i.e. booster shots are not required at this time.
  4. For those arriving from an international port (including the BVI), and/or  are not fully vaccinated, test results are required prior to arrival – which you should upload to the USVI Travel Portal. Test types accepted:
    1. negative Covid-19 molecular (rt-PCR / viral / nucleic acid amplification) test from a nasal or throat or saliva swab taken, with the result valid within the previous five (5) days, OR
    2. negative Covid-19 antigen (rapid) test from a nasal or throat swab taken, with the result valid within the previous five (5) days.
    3. CDC-accepted proctored test results may be acceptable for Travel Portal Use.
  5. Travelers aged 2-17 are exempt from the vaccine requirement.
  6. Update: International direct AIR arrivals to the USVI require test results within the previous five (5) days.
  7. The authorities will advise if your application is acceptable following upload to the USVI Travel Portal.
  8. Voyage time greater than five days: Please notify the YHG marina office of this scenario well in advance of arrival. If all aboard are fully vaccinated, and tested immediately prior to departure with negative results, you may be able to arrive without testing upon arrival. Contact the YHG Marina office for assistance.
  9. If you do not possess any valid test results, you will be required to self-quarantine aboard vessel for 14 days upon To reduce the 14-day quarantine requirement, you can book a Covid test through our marina office with our partner clinic. Contact the marina office at least 3-4 days in advance to book an appointment. See page three for FAQs relating to organizing testing with us.

  1. Arriving vessels must fly their yellow ‘Q’ flags, until they have satisfied the ‘free-pratique’ requirements as per USVI regulations and international maritime law.
  2. Lowering the ‘Q’ yellow flag, will be official confirmation to the marina that your vessel has met its obligations under USVI and International Maritime Law, and the vessel is free from disease.

Q. Can the marina arrange Covid-19 testing on our behalf?
A. Yes. Simply give us 3-4 days’ notice of your ideal test date, to [email protected] to book an appointment with our partner clinic. Next day bookings are not possible, so please plan ahead.

Q. What days of the week is testing available?
A. Monday – Friday work hours. Weekends are possible by advance arrangement – surcharges apply.

Q. What types of tests can be booked with your partner clinic, and what are their costs?
A. Two types of tests are available: 1) Abbott BinaxNOW Antigen test; 2) rt-PCR test.

Q. What is the typical result turnaround time?
A. Please plan for a test result turnaround of next business day; however, depending on the clinic’s business levels, you may well receive results the same day for both tests.

Q. I need a test result to present to a third country’s officials. What type of test should I take?
A. Please double check what type of test your destination will accept: if in doubt, specify rt-PCR.

Q. I just need a test that gives us peace of mind that my crew and/or guests are free from illness. Which test should we take?
A. Abbott BinaxNOW Antigen test.

Q. I need my results as quickly as possible – which type of test should I take?
A. Abbott BinaxNOW Antigen test.

Q. Does AYH offer onboard testing, where the nurse comes to our vessel to conduct the tests?
A. Yes, however, this concierge service is generally limited to yachts that have three or more crew aboard who require testing. Where only one or two crew, they will be required to walk to the Red Hook clinic.

Q. I have rotational crew flying in to join the vessel but want them tested with clear results before they board ship. Possible?
A. Yes. We can arrange an appointment to walk into either the YHG clinic, or Red Hook clinic (whichever is more convenient). Once the result comes back clear, they can leave their onshore accommodation and report to the vessel.

Q. What time can I expect testing to occur?
A. Walks-in to the AYH clinic are generally conducted at 430pm. On-board testing is usually around 0800am, but AYH will advise your appointment time when finalizing your booking.

Q. I’m ready to book an appointment. How do I do this with you?
A. First, please send your vessel name, date of appointment (weekdays only), and your crew list of those who require testing to [email protected]. Specify what type of test you require.
A. Second, please complete the clinic registration webform for each member of crew here.

The marina village in Red Hook is highlighted with numerous shopping, dining, and entertainment options for a memorable experience.

Arrival Information Details

Advanced reservations are strongly recommended at American Yacht Harbor. We cannot guarantee available berthing for guests arriving without a reservation.

Check-Out: 11:00 am Check-In: 2:00 pm

When feasible, we request an estimated time of arrival 24hr in advance so we can be fully prepared for your arrival and minimize any inconvenience. Upon arrival into Red Hook, contact the marina office on VHF Channel 16 or 11 to obtain a slip assignment. A skilled dock attendant will report to the slip to assist with docking, line handling, and connections. Once comfortably settled, we ask that you visit our marina office to check-in. The staff will answer any questions you have.

Upon departure, we request you contact the marina office 1-2 hours prior to departure to ensure all items are in order.  A receipt can be provided at the marina office or emailed upon request to the email address provided at the time of check-in.  If all items are in order, please hail the marina office on VHF Channel 16 or 11 if you would like assistance with disconnection and lines.

Early Check-in / Late Check-out

If a slip is occupied after 11:00 am on the day of your scheduled departure, an additional night’s dockage will be charged to your account.

We will do our absolute best to accommodate your requests whenever possible.  In most cases, if your slip is available prior to 4:30 pm on the day of your arrival, or after 10:30 am on the day of your departure, we will allow you to remain in the slip at no additional charge.  Prior arrangements must be made with the marina office for early arrival or delayed departure in order to avoid unnecessary charges.

Temporary Slips

In the event an early check-in and/or late check-out is unable to be accommodated in your currently slip, we will try to accommodate by making another slip available until such time your slip is available or you are ready to depart the marina.

In the event a temporary slip is made available to you, and you do not relocate the vessel, the marina reserves the right to charge you two times (2x’s) the original daily rate for each night you occupy the temporary slip.

This is necessary as at times, the marina operates at full occupancy and failure to relocate the vessel could negatively affect other guests.

Please note: Cancellation policies are subject to change. Please refer to your reservation confirmation or contact the marina office direct for confirmation of cancellation policy. Cancellation requests must be submitted directly to the marina. Any cancellation requests received through the IGY Marinas website are not considered proper cancellation.

Inspire Giving through You – February 23, 2019

Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School

Yacht Haven Grande and American Yacht Harbor teamed up with My Brother’s Workshop to support a local middle school. Marina teams and volunteers split into groups and assisted in the clean-up of storm debris left over from Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Five full loads of debris were disposed of. In addition, teams comprised of employees, local businesses, owners, captains and crew participated in helping The Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School rejuvenate some of its outdoor area for the children. They built new picnic tables, benches and planter boxes.

UVI Water Ambassador Program

Thank you to all of our volunteers, who participated in the 2016 and 2017 “Inspire Giving through You” Community Outreach Project. We appreciate your dedication and commitment to make a difference by inspiring others to give back to their communities.

Yacht Haven Grande, American Yacht Harbor and the many volunteers worked together in support of the UVI Water Ambassador Program in St. Thomas.  The program works in direct correlation with the Addelita Cancryn Junior High School teaching students skills in Hydrology.  These young entrepreneurials learn water safety, water quality testing, and study ways to improve the environment to impact the water quality.  The students also learn organic farming techniques and the produced goods are utilized in the school’s lunch program and sold at the Yacht Haven Grande Farmer’s Market to raise money for the program.

On February 25th, 2017, the team of volunteers assisted in the construction of a Hydrologic Learning Center.

Tasks Completed:

  • Construction of raised garden beds
  • Construction of green house
  • Construction and installation of work tables
  • Plant trees

American Yacht Harbor Marina Rules

To make your stay with us more enjoyable, the following set of guidelines should be followed. These are merely suggested rules of etiquette and regulations to make the Marina and its facilities more enjoyable for all customers.

  1. Do not leave garbage on the docks to be picked up.  Garbage should be bagged, tied and then properly placed in designated receptacles, or placed in the garbage truck, not loosely scattered or abandoned.
  2. Oils and fuels should be disposed of properly and not in the Marina trash can.  Please ask for assistance when disposing of oils, fuels, or chemicals.  Your concern for the environment helps.
  3. Try not to introduce any effluents into the Marina Lagoon.  Use holding tanks if possible.
  4. Do not attempt to turn on your own water and electricity.  Please have a dock attendant take care of this so you can be properly metered in and out.  Using pliers or screwdrivers will damage the equipment, for which you will be charged.  It is suggested that you read meters along with our dock attendant to ensure accuracy in your metered charges for utilities.
  5. Anyone caught taking water from another yacht’s tap shall be responsible for the entire water cost of the metered yacht.  Please use your own water.
  6. Keep power cords and water hoses in a neat and orderly fashion so that no one will trip in the dark or while carrying objects.
  7. Please wash sails on lawn areas where water outlets and drying spaces are available, or do so aboard your yacht.
  8. When marking anchor chains with paint, use paper or cardboard beneath your chain to keep wet paint off the docks and other customers’ shoes.
  9. When cleaning dinghies, make sure you rinse debris and growth off of the docks when finished.
  10. Lock your boat when leaving it unattended.
  11. Lock your dinghies and outboard at night, especially when left unattended.
  12. Try to keep excessive noise down after 10pm as a courtesy to other guests.
  13. Boat repairs being performed at the docks should not include grinding and/or power sanding.
  14. Barbecue and cooking in general is prohibited on the docks.  Barbecue and cooking should be done on board in suitable equipment and be self-contained.  Any other way is dangerous and frowned upon.  Kindly clean up after yourself when finished.  Charcoal ash and debris are not to be disposed of into the lagoon.
  15. When docking, keep bowsprits and davits over water’s edge and not protruding across the docks.
  16. If bright deck lights or spotlights are to be used at night, avoid pointing them at nearby boats, especially down at or into their cabins.
  17. Please be sure to keep all pets on a leash for the safety of your pet and surrounding patrons.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
