Fort Lauderdale, Fl. – June 15, 2017 – More than 500 volunteers gathered this past weekend to participate in IGY Marinas’ annual summer philanthropic initiative, Inspire Giving through You. The company’s corporate staff, marina associates, Anchor Club Strategic Partners, yacht owners, captains and crew members spent the day supporting local charitable organizations in North America and Panama.

Marina efforts for this summer’s Inspire Giving through You initiative included:
Gainesville, FL. – IGY’s corporate IT office and engineering partner, Applied Technology and Management (ATM), joined forces with Our Santa Fe River for a 6-mile clean-up project in order to help sustain the Santa Fe River and its ecosystem. Event sponsors included, Gainesville House of Beer.
Montauk, NY. – Volunteers from Montauk Yacht Club, the Marine Patrol, and the U.S. Coast Guard, came together to improve the aesthetics and environment of Montauk Harbor in advance of the community’s annual “blessing of the fleet” ceremony. Event donations were provided Montauk Brewing Company and Marine Patrol.
New York Harbor – Volunteers from North Cove Marina at Brookfield Place and Newport Yacht Club & Marina, along with the Coalition for the Homeless, focused on improving the aesthetics of Camp Homeward Bound. This involved a clean-up project, repairing the infrastructure, and preparing the facility’s swimming areas for camper use. Event sponsors included, Red White and Que Smokehouse, Bascorp and NY Media Boat.
Panama – Red Frog Beach Marina volunteers supported Bahá’í Rojas by collecting donations for school supplies and outsourcing a laptop and Wi-Fi. Event donations included, numerous notebooks, workbooks, writing and coloring utensils, 3 large dry erase boards, paper, activity books and cleaning supplies.
St. Petersburg, FL. – The volunteer team from Maximo Marina partnered with Tampa Bay Watch to educate the community about the environmental impacts through a recycling and shore clean-up project. Event sponsors included the SkyWay Marina District and Broadwater Civic Association.
Washington D.C. / Maryland – National Harbor Marina and its group of volunteers participated in Central Union Mission’s daily breakfast session, where they helped with food preparations and serving breakfast to boost morale for the homeless within the community. Event support and donations were provided by the Savannah Candy Kitchen National Harbor, Gaylord National Resort and Convention Centre, Residence Inn National Harbor, Westin Hotel National Harbor, Jos. A. Bank National Harbor, Fleet Miami, MD Yacht Charters and MY Irish Wake.
South Carolina – IGY’s corporate financial office once again teamed up with A Child’s Haven for a day of spring cleaning, painting, and building of shelves for the outdoor toys.
